How to Choose a Teacher
                                             Can I charge for Reiki?

That is up to you. If you intend to have a career in Reiki, it will be necessary to support yourself. Most people in the developed  countries of the world are paid for the work they do. Why should it be any different in healing work?

In ancient times, spiritual healers, teachers and seers received housing, food, clothing and gifts in exchange for their spiritual services. You also need to feed, clothe, and house yourself. You deserve to be paid for your good work. However,  it is also sometimes appropriate to give a treatment freely. These are decisions you need to be very clear with yourself in order to make. The good news is that with a steady supply of Reiki self-healing, your energy channels will be much more clear, and these decisions will get easier. Reiki is the healing energy of love that flows through us for the benefit of all beings
. If this remains an issue for you, you might want to do some work on your root chakra and your beliefs about money as well as your beliefs about your own worth.

Can anyone become a Reiki Healer?

The answer to that is YES.  All of us have innately within, the ability to heal ourselves and others.  Whether you have had experience or no experience matters not. Once you are initiated into the Reiki system, all you have to do is have the intent for Reiki to flow and it will.

Can I use Reiki on myself?

Yes, you sure can. In fact, it is encouraged.

                                     Who can receive Reiki treatments?

Anyone can receive a Reiki treatment. Women, men, children, women who are pregnant, old and young alike can receive Reiki. People with cancer, diabetes, broken bones, patients going through chemotherapy, surgery, any physical, emotional or mental ailment can be helped with Reiki. Animals love Reiki, too and benefit from treatments just as we do. Reiki can cause no harm

Can you use Reiki in nursing homes?

Yes. It has been found that most Elders love Reiki. They appreciate the touch, attention and healing experience of Reiki. Nursing homes are wonderful places to practice and offer your services. I assure you, the smiles, and loving thanks you receive from these precious Elders will touch the heart of your being and make you glad you are on a Reiki healing path. Once you are initiated as a Reiki Healer, make arrangements with your local nursing home to work with them and offer your services. To be honest, some nursing home administrators are receptive and some are not.  It is up to the Administrator as to whether to incorporate Reiki into their care programs. Touch therapy systems are beginning to be incorporated in patient care in hospitals and slowing gaining acceptance in nursing homes.

Can I expect an instant healing?

You should talk to your Reiki practitioner before a session as far as expectations are concerned. While some instant healings can take place, one must be realistic in expectations of healing.  You didn't get this way overnight and it may take multiple sessions before you start to see results especially on a physical level.  Healing first takes place on the invisible layers of the body and then filters down into the physical. This may take time if one has abused their body and had unhealthy lifestyles over many years. This can also take more time for people who have lived with abuse of any kind. These victims are often so wounded in the unseen places, that it takes extra effort to heal. However, Reiki is one of the better methods to use to heal these deep emotional and spiritual wounds. It CAN be done.

Since everyone is different, it is important that you discuss your expectations with your Reiki practitioner before and after a session. It is important to note that the benefits of Reiki increase tenfold after several sessions.

Do I have to change my religion in order to practice Reiki?

Absolutely not!
Reiki is not a religion and persons of all faiths and walks of life use this healing system.  You do not have to change religions, or alter your spiritual beliefs in order to be a Reiki Healer.

                                             Is Reiki difficult to learn?

No.  Once you are initiated as a Reiki Healer, all you have to do is have the intent for Reiki to flow and it will. Then it is a matter of just practicing the techniques and teachings from your teacher or provided material.  Practice will make your Reiki grow stronger and you will become more confident in your healing sessions.
